CHARITY CYCLE EVENT
Pitmedden folk get on their bikes for charity.
A group of 8 dad's and 1 Mum in Pitmedden, Aberdeenshire  are getting on their bikes to raise some money for children's charity SACHD (Scottish Association for Children with Heart Disorders) in a coast to coast cycle event.
The team consisting of Stephen Booth,  Andrew Noble,  Mark Kettle, Stuart Wood, Stuart Clark, Mike Paterson, Jennifer Noble, Steve Baguley and Richard Leece are cycling from Pitmedden Primary School to Millport in the West coast of Scotland on 3rd, 4th and 5th  June, leaving from the Primary School with a send off from the pupils at 9am on 3rd June.  Their arrival in Millport will allow the cyclists and their families to join up with the annual SACHD family event cycling around the island of Millport on 6th June.
Not wishing to take the easy way, the route will take the team over the highest classified road in Britain at Glenshee, take 3 days in total, cover approx. 240 miles and involve close to 16,000 feet of climbing!
Other locations covered on route include, Ballater, Braemar, Pitlochry, Killen, Callander, Balloch and the Erskine Bridge before heading to Largs, and then catching the ferry to Millport on the Saturday morning.
Only a couple of the team have previously embarked on any cycle touring before, so it's a new challenge for the team of MAMMILs (middle aged men 'and a mum' in Lycra) who have been training for the event since the turn of the year.
Stephen is a trustee of the charity SACHD, having become involved with the association when his daughter Jennifer (now almost 10) was diagnosed with the heart condition before she was born.
The team have already raised over £5,000 and would like to offer huge thanks for all the donations from family friends, friends, local businesses and colleagues.  Everyone's support will most certainly give them some "pedal power" to achieve this cycling endurance.  Further donations can be made at:

A special thanks to Ken Malcolm Equipment Ltd in Newmacher who have sponsored team cycling tops.
